Dear friends, colleagues and fellow members,
On behalf of the First Illinois Chapter HFMA officers and board of directors, I would like to extend our warm thoughts and best wishes to you and your families during this difficult and historic time. In addition, we want to send a huge thank you to all our members who may find themselves either on the front lines or helping support their clinical counterparts! Thank you also to everyone who is working from home and supporting your organizations, clients and the communities you serve in this environment.
We want to make sure you are aware of, and have easy access to, the many resources HFMA has made available during this time (HERE for all the HFMA resources). We also want to make sure you know about First Illinois Chapter’s plans for the coming weeks and months.
First Illinois 2021 Strategic Planning Process is going Virtual & Digital!
As many of you know, our March 13 planning meeting was cancelled. The need for your input, ideas and overall feedback is more important now than ever! I am pleased to report that we are launching a digital collaboration community. We’re piloting this community with our committee leadership team and those originally registered for the March 13 strategic planning meeting (look for a personalized invitation from me in the coming days). Our goal is to roll out the digital collaboration community to the entire chapter by early May. We will look to this platform to keep our membership engagement high. If you’d like to participate in the pilot group, please reach out to me directly at email@example.com.
On a national scale, HFMA has also launched a “community”. If you haven’t yet logged on and joined in the conversation on a national scale, please do so HERE:
We will reconvene on May 21 to formalize our plan for the coming year. Please be sure to make your voice heard by joining us (more details coming in the days/weeks ahead) and by joining our upcoming digital collaboration community, using the feedback button on firstillinoishfma.org or by reaching out directly to any one of the chapter leaders (HERE)
Leadership Training Conference (LTC)
LTC is an annual national event that brings together volunteer chapter leaders from around the country to a) collaborate and share best practices and lessons learned b) communicate requirements and resources needed to the national association leadership team and c) identify opportunities, risks and challenges in our chapter strategic/operating plan. This year, the two-day April event will be delivered via an all-day virtual session on April 27. Some LTC components will also be combined with HFMA’s June 2020 Annual Conference in San Antonio. Your First Illinois leadership team will be participating both virtually and in June. We will share with you the best practices and recommendations coming out of the April virtual meeting and the broader late June meeting.
Upcoming Education & Events
We are committed to continue to provide high level, quality education sessions and networking opportunities at a low cost for our members and the profession. Here’s the plan for our upcoming events:
April 20 Accounting & Reimbursement and May 7 Revenue Cycle 201 Events
We are moving four of the modules from these two events to webinars so that we can continue to deliver value to our members. Look for emails announcing these sessions and other events in the coming days/weeks. You can also stay updated by regularly visiting the chapter’s website at www.firstillinoishfma.org.
First Illinois Healthcare Executive Golf Event
We plan on holding the First Illinois Healthcare Executive Golf Event later in the year when our local communities and organizations can resume social activities. Once we’re able to set a date it will be communicated.
This annual chapter-sponsored golf outing has been a successful networking event for many years, and as we look towards the future, we believe it has the potential to be the primary philanthropic event held by our chapter. In the upcoming weeks, we will be evaluating the goals and objectives of this event in order to align its purpose with our altruistic mission. If you have ideas on how we can improve on this event, please reach out to us.
