On behalf of the entire First Illinois HFMA Chapter, we wish you a Happy New Year and a new decade!
With the holidays and year end activities behind us, many of our members are already “heads down” executing on their 2020 plans. Many of you are undertaking new business ventures, acquisitions, divestitures, workforce redesign, and a lot of IT projects—some major transformations!
Last month, our local leaders gathered to hear from Sandy Kraiss, VP Health Policy & Finance, Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA)on the Price Transparency regulation and what it means for Illinois. More to come as various groups spearheaded by the American Hospital Association (AHA) sue to block the rule arguing “The burden of compliance with the rule is enormous, and way out of line with any projected benefits associated with the rule.” As you would expect, HFMA is closely monitoring this and for resources on all things price transparency, visit HFMA.org as well as the impact locally on IHA’s dedicated page here.
On February 6, the First Illinois Chapter will host the FI HFMA & Chicago Health Executive Forum’s 2020 Managed Care Symposium at the University Club. This year’s agenda is jam-packed with phenomenal speakers and topics, including an update on Illinois Medicaid as well as a C-suite panel of local leaders. Our keynote speaker is Jason Lineen, Senior Vice President at AVIA. If you haven’t already registered, please do so here and join us.
As you saw last month’s message as well as the Save the Date that was just sent out recently, we are holding an all members strategic planning session on Friday, March 13 in downtown Chicago. This will be an afternoon session and one that I hope to see many of you attend. First Illinois is your chapter, your membership!Participating in our March 13 strategic planning session is your chance to influence how and where we focus our time, efforts and resources. It’s also a great way for you to get to know the us a little better and find ways to get more involved…we need your input and involvement to continue to deliver value to you, in the things you care most about whether its networking, professional advancement, or some other avenue we haven’t yet discovered. I hope to see you collaborating with us on March 13 as we design the future of First Illinois.
